Marzec-Tsalka Piano Duo
Marzec-Tsalka Piano Duo was formed in 2003 by pianists Katarzyna
Marzec-Salwinski from Poland (Krakow) and Michael Tsalka from Israel (Tel Aviv).
Both performers are versatile and accomplished musicians, performing as soloists
and chamber musicians throughout Europe, North, South and Central America,
Japan, Israel and Kuwait, among others.
The duo’s repertoire consists
mainly of unknown or rarely performed pieces for two pianos, four-hands and two
pianos with orchestra. During the last year the Duo has succeeded in achieving a
high level of artistic performance, which was recognized by several festivals,
competitions and concert series.
They were invited to
appear at the Osaka Chamber Music Festival in Japan.
Recent appearances of the Duo include a recording for the WRTI Radio Station in
Philadelphia, recitals in New York City, Rochester, NY, Washington, DC,
performances for the Chamber Music Society of Philadelphia and recitals at
Temple University in Philadelphia.
Future engagements
include concerts in Europe and Israel, in addition to performances in the United
States (Boston, Miami, New York City, Washington and Philadelphia).
The Duo has been
studying under the guidance of Harvey Wedeen and Lambert Orkis.
Both members of the duo are current doctoral students in piano
performance at Temple University where they teach in the keyboard and opera
departments.
